Hoping that everyone had a good Thanksgiving day with family and friends. If I'm being honest, ours was a little unconventional. We had no turkey, no dressing, no rolls, no extended family except mom and dad, not one cranberry! Don't get me wrong, we had good food, honey baked ham, mom's homemade noodles, etc. We had actually planned to have the big traditional day with Trav's grandmother and Aunt from Corpus Christi. We gave up our Conroe trip for them to be with us down here, but about three weeks ago, Travis's Grandmother had a stroke. She's doing fine, but she ended up having to make some big decisions about where to live. She will be moving in to an Assisted Living facility on December 1st, so traveling was out of the question. I was happy to be able to set her up with home health in Corpus as we have an office there, so she'll be using Girling! We thought about going up there to see them, but we had no place to stay and the cost was concerning to us. We're praying to see them at Christmas. We really miss them both and they would like to visit the cemetery of Travis's folks since they haven't been there since they both passed. Anyway, last year we didn't go to Conroe and i really missed it, so not being there this year was really missed. I think all my local friends had family coming down, so i couldn't be a pest and hang out with them! I just had a real need to be around lots of folks, playing games, being silly and eating until our bellies hurt! It was a hot, humid day, so that made it feel less like Fall also. We actually turned on the AC!
Friday was fun, though. We drove to San Antonio with mom in tow to watch those Buffaloes play ball. Mike and Crina (my nephew and his wife) along with her parents from Romania came and we really enjoyed them. Her parents were so cute. It was their first football game, and boy did they enjoy it. Her dad was standing and clapping, it was adorable! Dad's brother and his wife, Joe and Mercedes with their two boys, Renee and Joe Jr. came also. They live in San Antonio, so they thought they'd come and watch too. Joe is an Alumni football player, so he enjoyed it. They both told me to let them know where we are playing next because they'd like to go. The kids saw friends, the boys enjoyed teasing Millie about the two boys she likes, as they were both there! We ate at Travis's favorite restaurant, Mi Tierra on the RiverWalk. Mom enjoyed the food, especially those soft, corn tortillas. After the game we went to San Marcos for more eating at Cracker Barrel and a little shopping at Target. The store is located just blocks from Bobcat Stadium where Belville was playing, so mom got to hear the game going on. Turns out we'll be playing them in a re-match next Friday in Conroe, so maybe we'll get that family experience after all!!!!!
Anyway, am thankful for my family and friends. God has blessed me with a great husband, parents and kids. He's brought friends into my life that have truly enriched me as a person. He's given me healthy children that i truly am thankful for. He's provided me with a job that seems to really be my cup of tea. I am blessed with five, awesome sisters and "in-law" that i love dearly. I have a wonderful brother who i love and somehow passed his feet down to my second son!
God's blessings to you all through this holiday season. Always turn to him in your darkest of times.
